CENTRAL REGION SPRING MEETING MINUTES

May 9, 2006  

Cabot Public School Professional Development Center

 

 

I.                    Call to order: David Willard- Chair

                Introductions were made.

 

 II.            Minutes from the Fall Clinic Meeting were read and approved. – Amber Holden- Secretary

 

III.           Treasurer’s Report- Tina Neiderbrach

                Tina distributed an expenditure/deposit sheet and explained the cost of events.

                Our balance is around $7,000.  There are still some outstanding bills.

                Report is approved.

 

 IV.          Old Business

                Jr. High All-Region Auditions still need some fine tuning.

                Suggestion: Start on time and have separate rooms for the tenor and bass parts.

 

                All-Region Clinic:  one rehearsal room will not be available next year.

                The Central Region will give $500 to Harding University’s riser fund for the

                 use of their facilities.

 

  V.          New Business: Dates and Places- 2006-2007

                 Auditions Manager/CPA Manager Wkshop: June 12- ATU

                 Leadership Wkshop (Board Meeting) Conference: July 30, Austin, Hot Springs

                 New Director Orientation: July 31- Lakeside High School, Hot Springs

                 Reading Clinic: August 1-3 – Hot Springs

                 All-Region Auditions: Jr. High- October 14 CJHN-Cabot

                                                      Sr. High- October 28  SHHS- North Little Rock

                 Invitational Festival: November 7, 2006- Harding University

                All-Region Clinic: November 18- Harding University

                All-State Workshop: January 27- Harding University

                Central Solo Festival: February 26- Harding University            

                Region CPA: March 1-3- Searcy First Baptist Church

                ACDA (Honor Choirs): March 7-11- Miami, FL

                On With the Show!: April 30- Cabot

                Spring Region Meeting: May 14, Cabot Schools

 

                Suggestions from the Executive Director, Tom Street:

                State CPA- three nights instead of two, have a “Best In Class” award, and

                provide real pianos in all performance rooms.

 

                All-Region Music: Jr. High piece, “Trilogy of Knighthood”, boys will learn

                all three songs and only audition on one of the three.

 

                Clinicians for Fall of 07-08 were discussed.

 

                David Willard reminded us to attend the Event Workshop that will be held in June.

                Tina Neiderbrach encouraged us to participate in the Mentor program.
