CENTRAL
REGION SUMMER MEETING
MAY
14, 2007
Cabot
High School Choir Room
The meeting was called to order by
Chairman, David Willard.
The minutes from the Fall meeting
were read by secretary, Amber Holden.
The
minutes were approved.
The treasurerŐs report was given by
treasurer, Tina Nederbrach.
Tina
distributed an expenditure report.
Expenses and deposits for the year's events
were
explained.
Harding University has the master
DVD of the 2006-2007 All-Region concert.
It was noted that participation in
the Region Solo Festival was down.
Directors were reminded
this
event was for students in grades 7-12.
Invitational Festival is also for grades 7-12.
Both
events provide an excellent performance experience for students.
Please e-mail Tina if you need a
plaque plate for a CPA plaque. She
needs to know if it is one
of
the old plaques or the new ones.
The old ones are shaped like a triangle. The new
ones
are in the shape of the state of Arkansas.
We were reminded that the region will
pay the airfare of the current chairperson to attend the
ACDA
Convention. This benefit is
contingent upon the Central Region having
an excess of $4000 in reserve.
Directors revisited the idea of the
realignment of regions. This
issues was tabled from the Fall
meeting. Craig Jones went into great detail
using maps and other manipulatives.
He
explained
the suggested boundary lines.
These new lines would basically cut the current
Central
Region in half. Scott Whitfield
expressed concern that this would leave the
"new"
Central region gutted. Janie
Cunningham stated that jr. high students enjoy
attending
large events.
Elaine
Harris suggested the following and asked the following questions...
-use
a rubric in judging All-Region.
-
she asked if the proposed new region balanced on paper.
-what
is the square mileage of the new Central Region compared to the others.
-what
is the travel time across regions.
Facilities
were discussed.
The
new Central Region would loose Harding University for All-Region Clinic.
Some
Little Rock and North Little Rock schools have expressed interest in
hosting
events.
Tina
Neiderbrach also explained some of the details and wrapped up the discussion
with
a reminder that all ArkCDA directors will be able to vote on the issue.
