Minutes, Southeast Arkansas CDA


The Fall meeting of the Southeast Arkansas Choral Director’s Association was held at the home of Cara Akin in Monticello on Monday, August 24, 2009. The following members were present: Charlotte Wilson, Susan Buckner, Laura Ferguson, Charlotte Lee, LoraNelle Humphrey, Angel Owen, Tammy Albrecht, Bennie Vincent, Cara Akin, Edmond Hampton, Karen Robinson, Clifton Burrell. The meeting was called to order in due form by Region Chair, Charlotte Wilson at 7:00 PM. The minutes were approved as read. There was no treasurer’s report.

Old Business:

  • CPA---Tina Neiderbrach, Craig Jones, and Dana Emberson have been asked to judge our CPA. Suzanne Callahan of Jonesboro will be contacted to be our 4th judge. Once finalized our list of judges must be sent to Tom Street.

  • Reminder: All CPA music not found on the UIL/Texas list must be approved by the section chair. Send your music in early if it needs to be approved.

  • Charlotte has not heard from Cathy Byers (Blytheville HS) since we approved her request to move to our region. All criteria was met.

  • Registration for All-Region Auditions will be due on the following dates:

Jr. High---September 25, auditions Oct. 10, Hamburg Middle School

Sr. High---October 2, auditions Oct. 17, White Hall High School

At these times we also need to send a separate email with early/late time requests, and suggestions for audition spots—two songs for Jr.; three songs for Sr.

  • Charlotte Wilson will run the computers for both events.

  • Since our region could not afford to buy a laptop computer to use for all events, Charlotte bought one for her personal use that will be used for both All-Region events.

New Business:

  • Cara reported that the bill from Beth Tucker for our meal totaled $160. It was moved by Susan Buckner, seconded by Edmond Hampton, that we pay Beth Tucker $190 for her costs plus a gratuity. The motion passed in due form.

  • Cara is having a baby! Due April 21st.

  • Annette Rushing sent word that “Shoshone Love Song” is not on our Jr. Region CD’s. J & B has been contacted and they will send our region new tenor and bass CD’s.

  • Elections for Director of the Year were held. Charlotte Wilson was chosen Sr. Director of the Year, Karen Robinson was elected Jr. Director of the Year.

  • Our Spring Meeting will be held at the home of Karen Robinson in Pine Bluff on Monday, April 26, 2010. We need to plan a celebration for Michael Binns retirement for that date.

A motion to adjourn was made by Angel Owen, seconded by Laura Ferguson, and the meeting was adjourned in due form by the Chair at 8:10 PM.
