Type your answer here: We do not have a budget at Valley View. We probably spend about $2,500 per year on music for 7-12, which includes the All-Region/All-State music. The school pays all of our fees including All-region and All-state fees. They pay for rooms and meals(there is a limit per meal)for All-State tryouts and clinic. They pay for all transportation. We usually pay for items such as CD players, TV's, VCR/DVD players etc. out of fund raising money. The girls buy their dresses and the boys pay a $20 per year rental fee on their tuxedos. We have been using the same dresses for years, so the girls can usually find a used one for about $30. The new ones cost $60 and some of the girls prefer to buy new ones. If we have a student who cannot aford to buy a dress, we take care of it. When we have had a special need and have presented valid reasons for an expense the school has always said yes. They bought a new seven foot grand piano at a cost to the school of $20,000 for our new Fine Arts Center Auditorium. I think we have it good here. Some schools just can't aford to be so generous, but there are also those schools that just don't see the need to spend money on a choral music program and don't understand how music can be so expensive.

Type your answer here: Yes I have a budget. My budget however is jumbled in with the band budget so I never know exactly how much money I have to spend, except on music (which is usually eaten up by all region). The budget does cover transportation costs, but most of everything else comes from my choir boosters. They cover all participation fees and any other expenses the choir has.

Type your answer here: I have a 'band' budget- this is supposed to cover all of my classroom materials for my music classes, and I think it's about $300? It can include anything I need for 7-12 music...

Type your answer here: This is the first year we have had a sufficient budget, but apparently it was because it was not asked for.

I teach grades 7-9, and I get 7,000 dollars for accompanist, tuning, staff travel, supplies, and fees. My transportation, however, does not come out of my budget.

Type your answer here: I do have a budget and what that budget does not cover we do fund-raisers to cover costs - for example the kids pay for one night of their all-state lodging. The school district pays for transportation for all programs out of a separate account but everything else comes from the choir budget. I have been lucky that several big ticket items such as 12 new robes and new risers and grand piano for the stage has come out of money from the district and not choir budget money.

Type your answer here: Choir room equipment and maintenance, Travel, Misc. purchase, General supplies (which includes all music), Piano, and Dues and fees. Travel budget is the highest followed by the general supplies and finally dues and fees. My total budget is approximately $10,000. Unforutnately, at times our district has decreased all operating budgets by 10% and this has caused some difficulty because our costs did not decrease.
