Question 3. Fund Raising for choral directors are a fact of life. Given that, what is your most profitable fund raiser and how often do you run it?

Your Name: Judy Crews
Your Email Address: jcerws@bobcat.k12.ar.us
Type your answer here: Our school district really frowns on fund raisers and definitely does not like for groups sell from a brouchure. We make our money from working concessions at the football games and doing singing valentines. The valentines make good money and the administration likes them due to the compliments from the community. It is definitely a great way to make money, gets some good PR, and make people happy.

1-Valentine Flower sale (silks, by order); 2-School Talent Show; 3-Bake Sale @ WalMart in the spring. We also do a drawing for a cash prize at one concert per year, with door prizes donated by area businesses and $250 - $300 as the 'grand prize.'

Type your answer here: the easiest fundraiser is our choir discount card that we do with varsity gold and john morgan. DW at Cabot arranges his own discount with businesses in Cabot. I have worked with Mitch Wright with Great America, etc. for 12 years now and he gives us a great % as well as makes sure that we get the Christmas wrapping paper orders each year. Two of the best fund-raisers we did for NYC was selling "stock" in our trip. The stockholders got preferential seating and a reception after our spring concert and their names were in our programs. We sent them official thank you notes and individual students also sent them thank you notes. We also sold coca-cola products and that worked well for our trip- of course the students and parents were very motivated also to sell them. CJ at Harding I think does a choir family garage sale every year. We did that for our NYC trip also at the Carmichael Community Center here in town and each family had a booth and sold their own items and then kept that money for their trip.
